How you’ll spend your day

  • Collaborate with Technology stakeholders and other technical staff from the wider business to ensure appropriate, fit for purpose and simple solutions are defined, planned and delivered within the team.
  • Ensure there is capacity and capability to deliver the volume of work required.
  • Manage the support and development responsibilities required of the team, ensuring support is available where required.
  • Understand the workload and work items distributed amongst the team, as well as the larger works spanning the department.
  • Ensure the efforts and requirements of both resource and time are understood whilst assessing impacts, risks and costs in delivering the work within the team, building, and maintaining capacity to deliver the business needs.
  • Commit to the deliverables of the team and the department for larger works.
  • Take ownership of issues and development deliverables in a managerial capacity, seeing them through from start to finish.
  • Ensuring process and best practices are adopted, adhered to, and reviewed within the team.
  • Monitor and optimise workloads to ensure collaboration and efficiency at both team and departmental level.
  • Drive adoption of the latest innovation and technologies within the software engineering and AI arenas.

What you’ll bring to this role

  • Ability to lead technical solutions, people, delivery and strategy.
  • Experience in software development delivery.
  • Ability to manage and make well-balanced decisions in a pressured environment and pressured situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of activity with shifting focus.
  • Well organised and skilled in effective people management, coaching, task allocation, delegation and risk management.
  • Demonstrable experience of effective communication both written and verbally in technical and non-technical subjects to both a technical and business audience.
  • Ability to focus on the importance of the company needs.
  • Experience in application development, deployment and support in public cloud.
  • Knowledge and expertise of agile development, including the management of teams working in this manner, including the ability to coach and mentor.
  • Familiarity of AI and ability to identify opportunities to leverage its use and to influence adoption.
