About the Role & Client
Were looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a technology team responsible for a broad, modern hybrid infrastructure estate.
This is an opportunity to work across cloud, on-premises infrastructure, networking, security and Microsoft technologies, helping to build and maintain platforms that are secure, resilient and ready for the future.

How youll spend your day
As an Infrastructure Engineer, youll have a varied role spanning both operational support and technical improvement.
Youll be responsible for implementing, developing and maintaining:
- Azure PaaS and IaaS, including VMs, App Services, Storage, Azure SQL, VNets and Application Gateway
- On-premises and private cloud infrastructure, including HCI and virtualisation platforms
- Networking, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, switching, firewalls and routing
- Microsoft 365, including Entra ID, Intune, Defender, Exchange, SharePoint and Teams
- Server, storage and virtualisation environments
- Backup and recovery platforms
- Monitoring, patching and proactive infrastructure management
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Technical documentation and knowledge sharing
Youll also act as an SME escalation point for Service Desk and Application Support teams, helping resolve more complex technical issues.
The role offers plenty of variety. One day you could be working on infrastructure within the data centre, and the next collaborating with the Development Team on a new integration or web application.
The technology environment:
Youll be working across a predominantly Microsoft-based environment, including:
- Microsoft Server, Active Directory and DNS
- Azure PaaS and IaaS
- VMware / VxRail HCI
- Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and Defender
- Cisco Meraki networking
- Rubrik and AvePoint backup solutions
- Azure DevOps
- Storage, virtualisation and networking technologies
Experience with Nutanix would also be advantageous.
What youll bring to this role
Were looking for someone with strong hands-on infrastructure experience who enjoys solving problems and working collaboratively.
Youll ideally have:
- Proven experience working in a modern enterprise infrastructure environment
- Strong experience with on-premises servers, storage and virtualisation
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure across both PaaS and IaaS
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN, switching, firewalls, routing and network security
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and proactive issue resolution
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
- Experience working across server, network, storage and security technologies
- A practical, collaborative approach and a willingness to keep developing your technical knowledge
You dont need to be an expert in every technology listed. Whats important is that you have a strong infrastructure foundation, enjoy learning and can confidently work across a varied technical estate.
