Jamie Munro
Engineering Manager working at Sky Betting and Gaming. I joined Sky Bet back in 2011 as a football trader before finding a passion for technology and cross-training to become a software engineer working on our inhouse trading platforms. I mostly worked on backend, cloud-native microservices as an engineer and then Lead Engineer before moving across our frontend tribes where I’m learning more about our customer-facing apps and website whilst leading and managing people. Synopsis: Radical Code Reviews. A clickbait title borrowed from Radical Candour by Kim Scott; I’ll relate Kim’s book to how we review code in the workplace, and how we can learn from it to challenge our colleagues, give better feedback and be more compassionate when we review code.

Andy Lawler
Mobile Engineer working at Sky Betting and Gaming. At SBG I’ve worked on the Sky Bet app using Swift and also Objective-C but also worked using React Native along with other Web technologies to build multi-platform apps.
React Native: Write once, use everywhere
This talk will look at how we can use React Native and some other tools/frameworks to write once for multiple platforms. We will look at Expo and how it helps us build apps, React Native Web and also tools such as Expo-Router which is file based routing for native. The aim of this talk is to show you that it’s possible to use new technologies to write elegant solutions which work for all of your consumers.
Rich McIntyre
Currently Chief Engineer at BJSS has been writing JavaScript since before it was cool, he is passionate about tech and doing engineering ‘right’ across the full-stack. He often reminisces on his earlier ‘Ruby’ days and has had experience of engineering over many years at organisations such as NHS-D, BBC and Sky.
JavaScript All The Things
You can write JavaScript for everything nowadays, but should you? What are the pros and cons of writing JS everywhere and should you consider this approach on your projects. In this talk we will explore how JS performs at each tier and the stack and hear how it holds out when put at pace.
